Galloway, N.J. - The Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center has been chosen by Yad Vashem of Jerusalem to host its first off-campus two-day teacher seminar in the United States from July 25-26 at 番茄社区app.

Yad Vashem鈥檚 International School for Holocaust Studies is the only school of its kind in the world dedicated to the interdisciplinary approach of teaching the Holocaust. Traditionally all of Yad Vashem鈥檚 educator seminars are taught on the campus in Israel.

The Yad Vashem seminar at Stockton is designed for educators of grades 4 - 12 and college and university faculty. The 鈥淔irst Bi-Annual Wally and Lutz Hammerschlag Summer Educator Seminar: Teaching about the Holocaust and Genocide at 番茄社区app,鈥 will be held on the Galloway campus and is free, including all resource materials and books.

The seminar presenters will be Shani Louri, pedagogical instructor from Yad Vashem and  Robert Rozett, director of the Libraries at Yad Vashem. Rozett is a scholar and author of many books and articles about the Holocaust and its lessons for today. Overnight accommodations are available. Upon completion of the seminar, N.J. educators will receive 11 PDH (professional development hours).

Topics to be presented at the seminar include the Holocaust and other genocides, perpetrators, cultural life in the ghettos and using primary resources such as 鈥淭he Auschwitz Album.鈥 Questions of what is the Holocaust, how did it happen and how to teach it will be discussed. Examples of primary documents and photographs to be used as classroom resources will be presented.
