Event Description: Kramer Hall and the Murphy Writing Center of 番茄社区app will host a new event, titled Literary Life Open Mic Night featuring award-winning poet and Stockton Professor, Emari DiGiorgio.
DiGiorgio will read from her new book, 鈥淭he Things a Body Might Become鈥 followed by an open mic hosted by Peter Murphy, founder of Murphy Writing.
Members of the public are invited to share their poetry or prose with an audience of like-minded people in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. Each poet is able to share one poem for up to 2 minutes, while prose writers are invited to read for up to 3 minutes.
Non-writers are also welcome to visit and enjoy listening.
About the Presenter & Host:
Emari DiGiorgio: The author of 鈥淕irl Torpedo鈥 (Agape, 2018), winner of the 鈥淣uminous Orison, Luminous Origin Literary Award,鈥 and 鈥淭he Things a Body Might become鈥 (Five Oaks Press), Emari DiGiorgio is the recipient of numerous prizes, fellowships and residencies. She is a Professor of Writing at 番茄社区app, a Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Poet and also hosts 鈥淲orld Above,鈥 a monthly reading series in Atlantic City.
Peter Murphy: The author of seven books and chapbooks including 鈥淪tubborn Child,鈥 a finalist for the Paterson Poetry Prize and 鈥淐hallenges for the Delusional,鈥 a book of writing prompts, Peter Murphy has received dozens of awards and fellowships and has led hundreds of workshops for writers and teachers.
Cost: Free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
