Criminal Justice Lecture Series: Criminal Justice Policy and Reform

Galloway, N.J. 鈥 Colleen P. Eren, an associate professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice at William Paterson University, will discuss her new book 鈥淩eform Nation鈥 (Stanford, 2023) as a guest lecturer for the Criminal Justice program鈥檚 lecture series on Thursday, April 18, at 4:30 p.m. in the Board of Trustees Room. 


About Colleen P. Eren

Eren is an associate professor and the Criminology and Criminal Justice program director at William Paterson University. She holds senior fellowships at the Niskanen Center and the Reason Foundation and is an expert at the Crime and Justice Research Alliance, as well as a featured speaker at Heterodox Academy.

Eren is the author of three books, most recently 鈥淩eform Nation: The First Step Act and The Movement to End Mass Incarceration鈥 with Stanford University Press. Her other books are 鈥淏ernie Madoff and the Crisis: The Public Trial of Capitalism鈥 (Stanford, 2017), and 鈥淭he Impact of Supreme Court Decisions on US Institutions鈥 (Routledge, 2021).

She is a frequent commentator on social issues, appearing in print (New York Times), television (Washington Journal), and podcasts (Sorry Not Sorry with Alyssa Milano). Prior to entering academia, she was director of organizing at New Yorkers Against the Death Penalty, which led a successful state campaign against capital punishment.
