'The Implicated Subject: Beyond Victims and Perpetrators'

Galloway, N.J. 鈥揗ichael Rothberg will speak about his book 鈥淭he Implicated Subject: Beyond Victims and Perpetrators at the 12th Annual Paul Lyons Memorial Lecture at 4:30 p.m. March 22 via Zoom.

Michael RothbergRothberg will lay out his theory of the implicated subject, illustrating his point with examples from the reckoning of transatlantic slavery and structural racism.  Rothberg鈥檚 book offers a new theory on political responsibility.

Rothberg is the 1939 Society Samuel Goetz Chair in Holocaust Studies, Chair of the Department of Comparative Literature and Professor of English and Comparative Literature at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Lyons, who died in 2009, was a professor of social work and history at Stockton. He advocated peace, justice and human rights, and committed to helping those from troubled backgrounds.
