Galloway, N.J. – Unidos, a Stockton organization dedicated to the preservation and celebration of Latin American heritage, will begin a “Latinx Author Series” in October featuring successful Hispanic writers.   

The events are free and open to the public. Both begin at 4:30 p.m. in F111.

October 10: Stockton Assistant Dean of Education John Gray will present on his book, Quitting Was Not an Option. This publication details moments from Gray’s past in which he had to persevere despite all odds and explores the power of the human spirit.

October 15: John Jay College of Criminal Justice Assistant Professor of Latin American and Latina/o Studies Isabel Martinez will discuss her book, Becoming Transnational Youth Workers: Independent Mexican Teenage Migrants and Pathways of Survival and Social Mobility. This book examines the lives of unaccompanied Mexican teenage minors who emigrated to New York City in the early 2000s, explores community and family understandings about survival, and investigates the notion of social mobility in an era of extreme global economic inequality.
